Christoph Spies

Christoph Spies (born December 16, 1985 in Grünstadt ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since July 1, 2019 .

education and profession

Spies attended the dean Ernst elementary school and the Leininger grammar school in his native Grünstadt , where he graduated from secondary school in 2003 . He then completed an apprenticeship as a social security clerk at the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse (AOK), for which he has since worked in various positions. He trained to become an AOK business administration graduate and obtained a Bachelor of Science (2012) and Master of Science (2015, job description “health care provider”) at the Ludwigshafen am Rhein University of Applied Sciences. Most recently, in 2018/2019, he worked as a consultant for self-administration and health policy at the AOK Directorate Eisenberg .

Political career

Spies joined the SPD in 2006 and was involved in the SPD local association Grünstadt from 2008 onwards. From 2012 to 2018 he was chairman of the local association. In 2014 he sat on the city council of Grünstadt and in 2019 he became chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since July 1, 2019 . He is the successor of Manfred Geis, who left the state parliament prematurely, as a member of the constituency of Bad Dürkheim . Spies sits on the Agriculture and Viticulture Committee and the Legal Committee , among others .
