Christoph Tonini

Christoph Georg Tonini (* 1969 ) is an Italian - Swiss media manager . From 2013 to 2020 he was Chairman ( CEO ) of the corporate management of the Tamedia and TX Group media group . He is a member of various boards of directors .

Life

Christoph Tonini, whose father Karl Tonini immigrated from Bozen to Switzerland and ran a small print shop in Dielsdorf , completed an apprenticeship as an offset printer. He then studied from 1990 to 1993 at the Swiss Engineering School for Printing and Packaging (esig) in Lausanne . In 2003 Tonini obtained an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen .

After working in the printing business of the Hachette Group in Paris, at the Winterthur printing company and as a result of the takeover of this company at the Basler Zeitung , Tonini joined Ringier in 1997 . He held various positions at the Zurich media company and was most recently managing director of Ringier Hungary and Ringier Romania.

In 2003 he moved to Tamedia as Head of Finance and a member of the management team, and later also headed the corporate divisions Finance, Services and Newspapers Switzerland. In 2006 Tonini was named Deputy Chairman of the Tamedia Executive Committee and in 2011 he took over the management of the newly created Digital division. After his predecessor Martin Kall announced his resignation for the end of 2012 in the summer of 2011, Tonini took over the management of Tamedia in 2013. Tonini left Tamedia on June 30, 2020, which has been called TX Group since January 1, 2020 and forms the roof for the since then independent companies TX Markets, Goldbach, 20 Minuten and Tamedia. He has been a member of the TX Group Board of Directors since June 1, 2020 and a member of the administration of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (MGB). He is a member of the board of directors of Zürichsee Medien AG and an honorary board member of the children's aid organization Right to Play .

Tonini is married, has two children and lives in Herrliberg .
