Christoph Walser

Christoph Walser (born February 10, 1975 in Innsbruck , Tyrol ) is an Austrian entrepreneur and politician. Walser has been President of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce and Mayor of the municipality of Thaur since 2018 .

Life

Christoph Walser grew up in Thaur and completed an apprenticeship as a forwarding agent. In 2005, Walser founded the company CWA Transporte with just one truck. His company today has over 40 trucks and employs around 60 people.

Political career

In 2004 Christoph Walser was elected to Thaur's local council. In 2008 he was appointed Deputy Mayor of Thaur. He held this office until 2016. In the municipal council and mayoral elections in Tyrol in 2016 , Walser ran his own list of citizens against the then incumbent mayor of Thaur. He won the election and was elected mayor of the municipality of Thaur in the Innsbruck-Land district. Since 2016, Walser has been deputy chairman of the Tyrolean Economic Association chairman Franz Hörl , who had previously replaced the long-time chairman Jürgen Bodenseer in a ballot.

Chamber of Commerce

As an entrepreneur, Walser also took on functions in the Chamber of Commerce . There he has been district chairman Innsbruck-Land since 2015 and deputy chairman of the specialist group for goods transport trade WKO Tirol.

On October 9, 2018, Christoph Walser was elected 97% of the candidates for the office of President of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce by the regional general assembly of the Tyrolean Economic Association.

On November 14, 2018, Christoph Walser was sworn in as President of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce.
