Christoph von Blumröder

Christoph von Blumröder (born July 18, 1951 in Northeim ) is a German musicologist .

Career

Blumröder studied musicology with Hans Heinrich Eggebrecht , philosophy and modern German literary history at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau .

After receiving his doctorate in 1979, Blumröder was a research assistant on the concise dictionary of musical terminology (1972-2006). From 1980 Blumröder also taught at the local university, where he completed his habilitation in 1990.

After substituting professorships at the University of Bonn in the winter semester 1991/92 and at the University of Saarland in the summer semester 1995, he accepted a professorship for contemporary music at the Musicological Institute of the University of Cologne in the winter semester 1996/97 . There he founded the event cycles composition and musicology in dialogue (1997) and space music (1998) as well as the series of publications Signals from Cologne. Contribution to the music of the time and was elected chairman of the Signals Association from Cologne in 1999.

In addition, Blumröder is a member of the Center for Modern Research at the University of Cologne and was involved in the Cultural Studies Research College for Media and Cultural Communication from 2002 to 2007.

His specific interest is in electroacoustic music , which he established as a focus in research and teaching at the Cologne Musicological Institute.
