Christopher-Fares Koehler

Christopher-Fares Köhler (* 1987 in Wiesbaden ) is a German director, dramaturge and literary translator .

Life

Christopher-Fares Köhler grew up in Germany and Jordan. From 2009 to 2012 he studied Theater Studies and English at the University of Leipzig and from 2012 to 2015 Theater Studies (MA) at the Free University of Berlin . From 2013 to 2015 he was the dramaturgical assistant to Falk Richter . In the 2017/18 season he was part of the dramaturgy at the Münchner Kammerspiele with Benjamin von Blomberg , in the directorship of Matthias Lilienthal . From 2018 to 2019 he worked as a dramaturge (e.g. for the Exil Ensemble) and as artistic advisor to Jens Hillje at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin. Since the 2019/20 season he has been dramaturge at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. Since 2012 he has been working as an assistant director and director in Leipzig, Berlin and Oberhausen.

Köhler also works as a literary translator, primarily for Arabic authors. He works for the Theater der Welt Festival 2017 in Hamburg, for the Zürcher Theater Spektakel , the Theater an der Ruhr , the Boat People Project, the Volksbühne Berlin , the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin. From the 2020/21 season he will be dramaturge at Schauspiel Dortmund , in the directorship of Julia Wissert .
