Christopher Espenschied

Christopher Espenschied (* 1967 in New York ) is an American-German pianist , music teacher and composer .

biography

Espenschied was a student of Gerlinde Szelpal, Vlasta Ladic and Virginia Surloiu before studying at the Mannheim University of Music , first with Rudolf Meister , and then mostly with Paul Dan . At the same time, he studied at the Heinrich Neuhaus Academy in Munich and Zurich with Vera Gornostaeva (a student of Heinrich Neuhaus ) and Xenia Knorre . During his studies, he took part in international master classes with Vladimir Krainev , Daniil Shafran , Seymour Bernstein, Menahem Meir, Jevgeni Malinin , Karl-Heinz Kämmerling , Roman Nodel and other artists.

In addition to his extensive solo repertoire, chamber music works and lied literature were the focus of his work, among others with the vocal soloists Daniela Denschlag , Anke Vondung , Nicola Beller Carbone , Geert Smits and Michael König as well as with members of the Berlin Philharmonic , the Vienna Philharmonic , the Heidelberg Symphony, and the WDR -Sinfonieorchester Köln and the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz .

Espenschied has given concerts in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania and Thailand.

He is married to the mezzo-soprano Daniela Denschlag and has two children with her.
