Christopher Evans (politician)
Christopher Vaughan Evans (born May 14, 1958 in Cuckfield , England ) is an Australian politician with the Australian Labor Party . He is not to be confused with the American actor Christopher Robert "Chris" Evans, who has almost the same name .
Life
After finishing school, Evans studied at the University of Western Australia . Evans is a member of the Australian Labor Party . From 1993 to 2013 Evans was a Senator in the Australian Senate , including from 2007 to 2013 as Chairman of the Senate (Leader of the Government).
Evans was Minister for Immigration and Citizenship in Australia from 2007 to 2010, Minister for Education and Higher Education, Skills, Professions and Industrial Relations from 2010 to 2011, and Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research from 2011 to 2013.
Evans is married and has two sons.
