Christopher Rhodes

Christopher George Rhodes, 3rd Baronet (born April 30, 1914 in Alverstone , Isle of Wight , † June 22, 1964 in Blakeney ) was a British intelligence officer and actor.

Life

Rhodes was the son of Sir John Rhodes, the 2nd Baronet. He attended Eton College and then studied at Magdalen College, Oxford University .

At the end of the 1930s, Rhodes was accepted into the service of the British Secret Intelligence Service, which disguised him as a consular passport control officer (Passport Control Officer) stationed in the Netherlands. In autumn 1939 he was involved in the Venlo incident . The National Socialist police officers classified him as an important target and in the spring of 1940 he was placed on the special wanted list by the Reich Main Security Office in Berlin , a directory of people who, in the event of a successful invasion and occupation of the British Isles by the Wehrmacht, would be followed by special commandos of the SS should be located and arrested with special priority.

During World War II, Rhodes was a member of the Essex Regiment, in which he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Rhodes was married twice: first marriage from 1936 until her divorce in 1942 with Mary Kesteven. Second marriage to Mary Florence Wardleworth, whom he married in 1943 and with whom he had two sons and a daughter.

In 1955, Rhodes inherited his father's title of nobility as a baronet.
