Cabinet Craxi I

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Craxi I cabinet was sworn in after the parliamentary elections of June 27, 1983 on August 4, 1983 and ruled Italy until August 1, 1986. Bettino Craxi was the first socialist prime minister of the Italian Republic, which had existed since 1946. His government was based on a five-party coalition (Pentapartito) consisting of Christian Democrats (DC), Socialists (PSI), Social Democrats (PSDI), Republicans (PRI) and Liberals (PLI). Craxi's first cabinet fell because of a defeat in parliament and was replaced by the Craxi II cabinet , in which several ministers from the previous government were again represented.
