The Berlusconi III cabinet ruled Italy from April 23, 2005 to May 17, 2006. Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi resigned with his second cabinet in April 2005 because his electoral alliance had lost the regional elections. With his restructured third cabinet, he remained in office until the end of the legislative period and until the business of government was handed over to the Prodi II cabinet .
