Letizia Moratti (* 26. November 1949 in Milan as Letizia Brichetto Arnaboldi ) is an Italian entrepreneur and politician . Of 29 May 2006 to 30 May 2011, she was mayor of the city of Milan.

Life and work

Letizia Moratti's father Paolo Brichetto was a partisan of the Italian resistance movement during World War II and was interned with his wife Paola in the Dachau concentration camp .

After attending the privately run girls' school “Collegio delle Fanciulle” in Milan, Moratti studied political science at the University of Milan and graduated in 1972 with a diploma ( laurea ). She then worked as an assistant for European law at her university .
