Cabinet Cossiga II
The Cossiga II cabinet ruled Italy from April 4, 1980 to October 18, 1980. The previous Cossiga I cabinet failed because the small coalition partners of Cossiga's Christian Democratic Party (DC) broke away. In the second cabinet of Prime Minister Francesco Cossiga ( President from 1985 ) ministers from two other coalition partners were then represented, the socialist PSI and the republican PRI . A number of ministerial posts remained unchanged. The Cossiga II cabinet resigned in the autumn of 1980 because its draft budget for 1981 had been rejected by parliament.
