Goria cabinet
The Goria cabinet ruled Italy from July 28, 1987 to April 13, 1988. It was the first government after the early parliamentary elections of June 14, 1987. Prime Minister Giovanni Goria , who had been Minister of the Treasury since 1982, became the youngest at the age of 44 Head of government in the history of the Italian Republic (Goria died in 1994). His government was based on a five-party coalition (Pentapartito) consisting of Christian Democrats (DC), Socialists (PSI), Social Democrats (PSDI), Republicans (PRI) and Liberals (PLI). The government resigned because of budget problems. It was followed by the De Mita cabinet .
