Ciampi cabinet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ciampi cabinet ruled Italy from April 28, 1993 to May 9, 1994. Before that, the Amato I cabinet ruled , then the Berlusconi I cabinet in the following 12th legislative period . The government of Prime Minister Carlo Azeglio Ciampi was supported by the following parties in parliament:

During the collapse of the old party system, the Ciampi government continued the restructuring work of the previous government. Prior to his appointment, Prime Minister Ciampi was governor of the Italian central bank , and in 1999 he was elected President in recognition of his services as head of government and later finance minister .

Shortly after the Ciampi cabinet was sworn in, the ministers of the left-wing democratic PDS and the Greens resigned. They were protesting against the attitude of the parliament, which did not want to lift the immunity of the former Prime Minister Bettino Craxi . These ministers were replaced by non-party experts.
