Antonio Bisaglia (born March 31, 1929 in Rovigo , Province of Rovigo ; † June 24, 1984 in Santa Margherita Ligure , Province of Genoa ) was an Italian politician of the Democrazia Cristiana (DC), who was a member of the Chamber of Deputies between 1963 and 1979 ( Camera dei deputati ) and was then a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) from 1979 until his death in 1984 . He held several ministerial offices in different governments.

Life

Deputy and Undersecretary of State

Bisaglia, son of a railway worker, joined in 1945 the Catholic Action and graduated in law at the University of Padua . After graduating, he worked for an insurance company . As a candidate for Democrazia Cristiana (DC) in the elections of April 28, 1963, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) for the first time, to which he belonged until the June 27, 1979 elections . At the beginning of his parliamentary membership, he was a member of the Committee on Affairs of the Prime Minister, Home Affairs, Religion and Public Corporations in the fourth and fifth legislative periods from July 1963 to May 1972, and between July 1963 and June 1968 also a member of the Committee on Public Works.

Bisaglia held his first government office from December 14, 1968 to August 6, 1970 as Undersecretary of State to the Prime Minister and Secretary of the Council of Ministers (Sottosegretario di Stato alla Presidenza del Consiglio con funzione di Segretario) in the first , second and third Rumor Cabinets . In the following Colombo cabinet and in the first and second Andreotti cabinet , he served between August 7, 1970 and September 7, 1972 as Undersecretary of State in the Treasury (Sottosegretario di Stato al Tesoro) . During the sixth and seventh legislative periods, Bisaglia was a member of the Committee on Transport, Civil Aviation, Merchant Navy, Post and Telecommunications from May 1972 to July 1978.

Minister and Senator

On March 14, 1974, Bisaglia was first appointed to a ministerial office by Prime Minister Mariano Rumor in his fifth cabinet as Minister for Agriculture and Forests (Ministro dell'Agricoltura e Foreste) and held this office until November 13, 1974. In the following fourth and fifth Moro cabinet and in the third , fourth and fifth Andreotti cabinet , he was Minister for State Participation (Ministro delle Partecipazioni Statali) between November 23, 1974 and August 4, 1979 . Most recently, during the seventh legislative period from July 1978 to June 1979, he was a member of the Committee on Budget, Programs and State Contributions.

After leaving the Chamber of Deputies, Bisaglia became a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) on June 3, 1979 and represented the interests of the Veneto region until his death on June 24, 1984 . During the eighth legislative period he was a member of the Senate Budget Committee from July to September 1979 and then from September 1979 to July 1983 of the Senate Committee for Hygiene and Health as a member.

Bisaglia was Minister of Industry, Commerce and Crafts (Ministro dell'Industria, Commercio e Artigianato) in the first and second Cossiga Cabinets and the Forlani Cabinet from August 4, 1979 to December 20, 1980 . Most recently, he was a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs from August 1983 until his death on June 24, 1984.
