Christopherus Riccius
Christopherus Riccius , also Christoph Riccius and Christophorus Riccius , (* 1590 in Stettin ; † April 28, 1643 ) was a German lawyer. He worked from 1638 until his death as a City Counsel of Gdansk .
Life
Riccius was born in Szczecin, where his father Joachim Riccius was a professor at the Szczecin Pedagogy . His father later switched to a position as a clergyman in Gartz ; Riccius probably attended school here. Riccius then studied law at the University of Rostock , the University of Wittenberg , the University of Jena , the University of Strasbourg and the University of Leuven .
In 1619 Riccius became a full professor of history and jurisprudence at the Academic Gymnasium Danzig . In 1638 he became city counsel for Danzig.
Riccius published around 13 writings with legal content from 1620 onwards.
His younger brother Adam Riccius (* 1605, † 1662) became a professor at the University of Königsberg.
