Christos Kostis ( Greek Χρήστος Κωστής , born January 15, 1972 in Thessaloniki ) is a former Greek football player. In his day he was one of the best Greek strikers and known as a great talent.

Club career

Kostis started his career at Iraklis Thessaloniki . In 1989 he became part of the first team and became one of the club's best strikers. Before that he played in the club's youth.

In the summer of 1994 AEK Athens and Olympiacos fought for the signature of the then 22-year-old super talent. Olympiakos and Iraklis agreed on a transfer fee. While Kostis was waiting for the plane that would take him to his new club to sign the contract, AEK Athens made a better offer and still got it. At his new club, Kostis continued his good performance and won several titles.

On October 23, 1997 there was a collision with the Polish goalkeeper of Austria, Kazimierz Sidorczuk , in the first leg of the 2nd round of the European Cup Winners' Cup against Sturm Graz (2-0) , which should have serious consequences for Kostis: he suffered a shine - and broken fibula (rubble fracture), which meant a long end for him.

In 1998 he moved to RSC Anderlecht, but there was no use because he was never able to fully recover from his serious injury that he suffered in 1997. Two years later he returned to AEK Athens. He played a few more games, but the days of his glorious career were over. From 2005 he played one more season for Alki Larnaka in Cyprus.

From 2006 to 2007 he ended his career in South Africa with Ajax Cape Town .

National team

On March 10, 1993 he made his debut for the Greek national football team . In total, he was on the field 15 times for the Greeks and scored 4 goals.
