The Christ Chapel Soltendieck is an Evangelical Lutheran church building in Soltendieck , in the Lüneburg Heath and the youngest sacred building within the Evangelical Lutheran church district of Uelzen. It was consecrated on September 29, 1973 by Uelzen provost Kurt Werner Ahnert, pastor Werner Klipp and pastor Georg Thoenelt (St. Bonifazius Church Bodenteich). The foundation stone was laid exactly one year earlier . The construction was decided in 1971 by the council of the municipality of Soltendieck, which also took over the greater part of the construction costs before transferring the chapel to the municipality of St. Petri in Bad Bodenteich . The chapel is also used as a cemetery chapel.

construction

For the design , planning and construction management was architect Günther Gröhn responsible. In the chapel there is a 120 square meter worship room and two smaller rooms for children's worship groups. There are 14 benches for 112 visitors in the worship room. There is also an altar , sacrament implements, an organ , a pulpit , an altar cross and a Luther rose in the service room . In 2008 a new baptismal font was bought, financed by donations from the community .

The Christ Chapel has colored concrete glazing and a roof that swings up to the east side. The concrete glazing comes from the artist Heinz Lilienthal , who is considered a master of glass art and is the artistic treasure of the Christ Chapel. Next to the chapel is a small bell tower and an outbuilding with an equipment room and a clay chamber. Behind the chapel there is one of two cemeteries in Soltendieck.

Bell tower

The 240 kg bell was cast in Heidelberg on November 28, 1980. It was donated by the construction company Heinz Licht on the occasion of the company's 25th anniversary. The tower and bell were inaugurated on April 3, 1981. “A person sees what is in front of his eyes; but the Lord looks at the heart “is the inscription on the bell. Before the new bell was built, the bell at the neighboring school was used.
