Christ Church (Neheim)
The Christ Church Neheim is a Protestant church in the Arnsberg district of Neheim-Hüsten . It is a neo - Gothic three - aisled building built between 1860 and 1862 . Between 1897 and 1899 the nave of the church was extended. At that time, a side aisle with a gallery was added, which can be seen in particular by the stones, which differ in size and type, which were used in the construction of the main and side aisles.
The tower erected in the middle above the entrance portal has a tower clock and a hexagonal conical roof, which is created from the shape of the shaft. Above the entrance area there is a single Gothic pointed arch window with tracery - two three-pass, one four-pass - made of green sandstone. The structural elements of a Gothic sacred building are particularly easy to recognize on the entire building, especially through the supporting and buttresses used.
Together with buildings from the late 19th century, predominantly in the style of historicism and individual half-timbered buildings, Burgstrasse, on which the church is located, forms the historically most important ensemble in Neheim.
The church has been a listed building since 1983.
In 1973 a Steinmann organ was added to the Christ Church , which was thoroughly overhauled at the beginning of 2012 by the Stockmann brothers' organ building company . The registers were changed and some wooden pipes and a trombone in the pedal were added. The neo-baroque style of sound was changed because it no longer appealed to many organists who played the instrument.
