Interior with tent roof

The Christ Church is a Protestant church in Münster-Hiltrup .

History and church space

The church was completed and consecrated in 1970.

It is a square church building with a tent or pyramid roof . This type of construction can be found in a number of Protestant churches - the tent shape of the roof should be a sign that people are always on the way to God. The church was planned by architects from Münster.

In front of the church there is a single bell tower. It was only built in 2006. When the church was built, a bell carrier in the form of a concrete wall about four meters high was first erected, in which the bells were freely visible. The old "bell tower" was replaced in 2006, particularly for structural reasons.

The community center is adjacent to the church.

Furnishing

Inside the church is kept simple. The walls are made of brown clinker brick, the tent ceiling is made of light brown wood.

A large, stone altar table stands in front of the south wall . The altar cross on the south wall consists of a red enameled bowl with twelve large, roughly broken rock crystals .

Underneath the roof structure, a light band made of thick glass blocks runs around the entire church. The light band is interrupted by a large baptismal window that extends to the floor and in front of which is the simple baptismal font.

organ

The organ was built in 1986 by the organ builder Gerald Woehl . The instrument has 18 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The actions are mechanical.
