Chryssoula Aliferi (* 1958 in Athens ) is a Greek diplomat .

Career

Chryssoula Aliferi graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Athens in 1979 . In 1982 she was accepted into the diplomatic service, where she held various positions in the Greek Foreign Ministry in Athens. In 1986 she was a member of the Greek delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York. Afterwards she worked at the Greek embassies in Syria and Sofia. In 1995 she was promoted to embassy counselor. Between 1998 and 2003 she worked as envoy counselor of the Greek embassy and permanent representation of Greece to the international organizations in Vienna. Her next role was as Consul General of Greece in Johannesburg, South Africa, until 2006 . Her other functions brought her again to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Athens. In 2007 Aliferi was appointed Second Class Plenipotentiary Minister . From 2008 to 2014 she headed the North America (USA-Canada) division at the State Department. Between 2007 and 2008 she worked there as the head of the European Department for Justice, Home Affairs and Schengen. In 2011 she was appointed Minister Plenipotentiary, First Class. In 2013 she chaired the Foreign Ministry's entrance examination for new diplomats. In April 2014 she succeeded Themistoklis Dimidis as the new ambassador of the Hellenic Republic in Austria and permanent representative to the international organizations in Vienna.

Chryssoula Aliferi is married to Dimitri Yannakakis , the ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Hungary, and has two children.
