Charles Hollis Taylor , better known as Chuck Taylor (born June 24, 1901 in Brown County (Indiana) , † June 23, 1969 in Port Charlotte , Florida ) was an American basketball player who is still known today for the basketball shoe named after him is.

After Taylor graduated from high school , he started playing basketball professionally from 1919. In 1921, he contacted Converse to suggest improvements to their shoes because his feet were sore. In 1969 Chuck Taylor was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame , the same year he died at the age of 67. Until shortly before his death he worked as an ambassador for the Converse company.
