The Chulga ( Russian Хулга ) is the left, more water-rich source river of the Lyapin in the Autonomous Okrug of the Khanty and Mansi / Ugra in Western Siberia ( Russia ).

The Chulga arises at the confluence of the two 35 km long source rivers Grubeju ( Грубе-Ю ) from the left and Chaimaju ( Хайма-Ю ) from the right on the main Ural ridge. The Chulga flows in a southerly direction along the eastern flank of the main Ural ridge. Near the village Saranpaul it unites with the coming of the West Schtschekurja to lyapin river. The chulga has a length of 218 km. The 13,100 km² catchment area of the Chulga is home to the highest peaks of the Ural Mountains.

The northern edge of the Chulga headwaters is considered to be the transition area between the Subpolar and Polar Urals .
