Chulo ( Georgian ხულო ) is a minority town in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in southwest Georgia .

Chulo is the administrative center of the municipality of the same name . The city is located in the Ajariszqali river valley . Chulo is 88 kilometers from the Adjarian capital Batumi . Chulo has 1007 inhabitants (2014).

The name of the city used to be Chula (ხულა), which means "small department store" in Georgian. This name refers to the trade routes that ran through the town in the Middle Ages .
