Chungho Comnet Co. Ltd. is a South Korean company specializing in ATMs and components.
history
The company was founded in 1977 as Chungho Industry Co. Ltd. founded and installed their first ATM in the same year; From 1978, however, it also produced pure cash dispensing units as components for other machines.
Own ATM series were marketed under the acronym OTM (en: Online Teller Machine), such as the OTM 3M2TA model from 1985 to 1988 .
In 1989 the name was changed to Chungho Computer Co. Ltd. changed. In 1997, the QY-ATM, a cash recycling model, was brought onto the market. In 1999, the first company to develop an ATM with facial recognition .
In 2000 the company changed its name to its current form: Chungho Comnet Co. Ltd.
In 2004 the company was certified according to ISO 9001 . Since 2005 Chungho Comnet has also exported its ATMs to Indonesia , Thailand , Vietnam and the Philippines .
In South Africa there is a partnership with the company SparkATM , which does not manufacture ATMs itself and sells the devices exclusively.
The company received a Certificate of Excellence in Development and Service from the South Korean Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in 2006 .
Although Chungho Comnet is the market leader in South Korea and has expanded its radius of action to foreign markets, it is now facing foreign competition in its home market as well. In 2012, the German ATM manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf succeeded in gaining a foothold on the South Korean market for the first time and concluded a contract for 1000 ATMs with cash recycling with the largest local retailer, “Lotte PS Net”.
