The Churchill- class was a class of nuclear powered fighter submarines in the Royal Navy .

There are three boats in this class.

All three ships were built by Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering .

history

The Churchill class is the upgraded version of the Valiant class . It is named after the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill . Like all nuclear submarines, they could dive indefinitely. The most famous boat of the class was the Conqueror , she took part in the Falklands War and sank the Argentine cruiser General Belgrano . The Conqueror was decommissioned in 1990.
