action

Ruth cannot understand that her father Edek, who only moved from Melbourne to New York a few weeks ago, is far from having a peaceful retirement. And that old age is the wrong term for the lively eighty-seven year old. First he makes himself "useful" in Ruth's correspondence office and mixes everything up there. But a little later, as a matter of course and without Ruth having been informed beforehand, Zofia and her friend Walentyna move to Edek's house - two women in their prime who Edek had met on a trip to Poland. When Edek, along with Zofia and Walentyna, also wants to open a restaurant on the Lower Eastside that specializes in meatballs, Ruth's nerves are put to the test.
