Parov Stelar
Parov Stelar (born November 27, 1974 in Linz , Upper Austria , as Marcus Füreder ) is an Austrian DJ and producer specializing in jazz , house , electro and pop . He is one of the pioneers of electroswing as well as visual artist (including painting , screen printing ) and designer .
Live and act
Füreder completed an apprenticeship in applied design at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz .
After first publications under the pseudonym Plasma or his real name in 2001 and 2002 at Bushido Recordings , Marcus Füreder founded his own label with Etage Noir Recordings in Linz in 2003 , with which he has since released as Parov Stelar .
In 2004 Parov Stelar had his breakthrough with the EP KissKiss and the album Rough Cuts that followed shortly thereafter . The radio station FM4 presented the titles of all published in 2004 EPs Kiss Kiss , Move On and want to get first in the House telecast High Spirits and took it subsequently also into the daily program. As with the following albums, Soulseduction took over global sales and, according to his own statements, was an essential pillar alongside FM4, which contributed to the success of the debut album. The album, which was released at the same time, received positive reviews internationally, with its concept of "sampling jazz traditions in gently broken rhythms" being sometimes described as nu jazz with similarities to the style of Mr. Scruff .
His album Seven and Storm followed in 2005, then the album Shine in 2007 and the double album Coco in 2009 . In April 2012 Parov Stelar released an album with The Princess again, which is divided into two parts. In 2012 he reached the German and Dutch charts for the first time with his double album The Princess . With the album The Invisible Girl , released in March 2013 , he let the electronics take a back seat in some tracks and gave more space to the jazz he loved.
Parov Stelar also became internationally known for his music-based commercials. The Internet plays a crucial role in spreading his music. The video clips backed by his music have been viewed over 150 million times so far. The electro swing track Catgroove in the video version of the Australian dancer TSC Forsythe has already been viewed over 46 million times on YouTube ; All Night in the video version of the dancer Sven Otten (JSM) was clicked over 47 million times, it also served as the soundtrack in the credits of the Dirk Nowitzki documentary Nowitzki. The perfect throw .
In November 2005 Parov Stelar performed for the first time with a live band, which was followed by over 700 live concerts worldwide, including sold-out shows at the Playstation Theater on Broadway in New York (twice in a row), in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seoul , Mexico City, and the arenas in major European cities. There are also appearances at well-known festivals such as Coachella (US), Glastonbury (UK), Sziget (HU), Hurricane / Southside, Lollapalooza (DE), Pukkelpop (BE), Vieilles Charrues, Solidays (FR), NOS Alive! (PT), Zurich Open Air, Gampel Open Air, Gurten Festival, Paleo (CH), Untold (RO), Frequency (AT) and the Fete de L'Humanite in Paris with 100,000 visitors.
The song All Night was awarded double platinum in Italy in May 2017 for more than 100,000 units sold. In May 2018 Parov Stelar reached the top and No. 1 of the American iTunes Electronic Charts for the first time with the song The Sun featuring Graham Candy. He did the same a second time in April 2020 with the release of Voodoo Sonic Part 2.
Parov Stelar is married to the singer Lilja Bloom (bourgeois Barbara Füreder née Lichtenauer). Together they founded the design label Stelarbloom and won the A 'Design Award 2017/2018 in the field of furniture design with the Voltaire project .
On April 11, 2019, Parov Stelar announced that Cleo Panther, the band's longtime singer, is no longer available for live shows. At the same time, Elena Karafizi from the Republic of Moldova was introduced to the Parov Stelar Band's new singer.
