Graham James Candy (born April 1, 1991 in Auckland ) is a singer-songwriter and actor from New Zealand .

Graham Candy was best known for his collaboration with the German DJ and producer Alle Farben and his single She Moves (Far Away) , which reached the top 10 of the German charts and gold status in 2014.

Life

Born and raised in Auckland, Candy began at the age of six with ballroom dancing and Latin American dancing and took with his dance partner successfully in Youth and Junior Championships in New Zealand and Australia in part. His first contact with the film industry was as a photo double for the character Edmund in The Chronicles of Narnia: The King of Narnia . He attended Rangitoto College, where he was part of the winning team of the “National Stage Challenge Competition”, part of a barbershop horse and winner of the school theater competition “AMI Showdowns” as “best supporting actor” in his role in the high school production of Seussical . In 2008 Candy tried his own songwriting for the first time and reached 7th place in the "Play It Strange Songwriting Competition" with his song Last Forever . Mike Chunn, founder of the Play It Strange Competition, has supported Graham Candy in his musical career ever since.

With his band The Lost Boys, Candy reached the top 10 at the "New Zealand Battle of the Bands" in 2009 with the song Hot Air Balloon . He starred in the short film Got The Dogs and twice received the New Zealand stage award "NAPTA Awards" for his roles in the stage productions of Footloose and Spring Awakening .

In 2012 Candy started his solo career in bars and pubs in Auckland. He was involved in the founding and development of "The Portland Public House" and then worked there as an in-house musician and event manager. He brought himself into the local music scene and had the opportunity to play alongside bands like Mumford & Sons and Daniel Bedingfield .

In 2013 Rachel Watson (Spin 33 Records) introduced Candy with Matthias Müller from the Berlin label Crazy Planet Records. In the same year he moved to Berlin and has since been under contract there with BMG Rights Management and Crazy Planet Records. That same year he made his film debut in a leading role alongside Keisha Castle-Hughes and Shiloh Fernandez in the film Queen of Carthage , directed by Mardana M. Mayginnes. In Berlin, Candy worked with the indie pop band Abby , the DJ Alle Farben and Parov Stelar . He received a lot of attention for his single 13 Lords and his feature on Parov Stelars The Sun. His first major success came with Alle Farben's debut album Synesthesia , on which he sang the two pieces She Moves (Far Away) and Sometimes .

In March 2015, Graham Candy released his EP Holding Up Balloons . In September 2015 the song 4Life was released , a collaboration with the German DJ Robin Schulz .

Graham has been with Silbermond since May 2016 as a preliminary act of the "Leichtes Gepäck" tour.
