Cilly Kugelmann

Cilly Kugelmann (* 1947 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German-Israeli historian. From 2002 to the beginning of 2017 she was program director of the Jewish Museum Berlin and deputy director.

Life

Born in Frankfurt am Main, Cilly Kugelmann emigrated to Israel in 1966 and studied art history and general history at the Hebrew University . In 1971 she returned to Germany and studied educational science , sociology and psychology . After graduating, she taught at the Ruprecht-Karls University, among others . Since 1980 she has published the magazine Babylon : Contributions to the Jewish Present . From 1986 to 2000 she worked at the Jewish Museum Frankfurt , since 2001 at the Jewish Museum Berlin, initially as director of science and research and exhibition director. In September 2002 she became program director of the Jewish Museum Berlin; She handed over the post to Léontine Meijer-van Mensch from the Netherlands on February 1, 2017 .
