The AChR is aiming for this breed to be recognized by the FCI as the fourth Romanian dog breed. The name raven for the breed is derived from its black color. Its first standard was drawn up in 2008 by the AChR.

history

The Ciobănesc Românesc Corb comes from the Carpathian region, where it traditionally serves as a watchdog for herds and houses.

description

The breed is described as a large (raven) black dog, white only on the chest and legs. The coat is long, coarse and smooth with a shorter, dense undercoat . The tail is bushy. The nape of the neck is long-haired so that it looks like a mane. The fur forms flags on the back of the front legs and trousers on the back legs . The standard describes the dog as brave, powerful and proud. The proud impression is largely determined by the raised posture of the strong and massive head. The stop is quite pronounced, the eyes are dark and almond-shaped. The ears, which start slightly above the eye line, are V-shaped, rounded at the bottom and carried close to the cheeks. They reach up to the lips . When the dog runs, it should look harmonious and elastic and give the impression of effortless strength. Males differ significantly from bitches in this breed, they are larger and stronger. The standard describes the nature of the breed as balanced and calm. The dogs should show a pronounced watchful behavior and subordinate themselves to their caregivers, the breed is reserved towards strangers. They should show themselves brave in the herds and fight against enemies such as bears or wolves.
