The Circus Conelli is Switzerland's first Christmas circus .

history

The circus , founded by Conny Gasser , Joe Bürli and Herbi Lips , had its first guest appearance on Zurich's Sechseläutenwiese in 1982 . In 1989 the Christmas circus made a guest appearance in the barracks in Zurich. The circus has been playing on the Bauschänzli near the Stadthausquai since 1992 .

In 2004 the circus received an "Honorary Prix ​​Walo ", the highest award in the Swiss entertainment business. In 2007, the Circus Conelli celebrated its 25th anniversary with the Jubilée program and received the Zurich-Leu Gold Award from the then Mayor Elmar Ledergerber .

Conelli focuses on acrobatic performances by international artists. Animal appearances are completely avoided.

Shortly before Christmas in 2007, Conny Gasser died of heart failure and his wife Gerda Gasser in spring 2008. Son Roby Gasser (known as Roby Gasser and his sea lion Adolph) and his wife Cindy Gasser, dancer at the Lido in Las Vegas, took over in 2007 Direction, production, choreography.

Shortly before Herbi Lips left the company in 2010, Roby and Cindy Gasser acquired all shares in Circus Conelli.
