Claes Berg ( July 1, 1886 - May 31, 1959 ) was a Swedish football player . In 1913, the striker , who won the Swedish championship twice with AIK , played an international match for the Swedish national team .

Career

Berg played in the first two decades of the 20th century for the Allmänna Idrottsklubben, which was then based in Stockholm . In 1904 he represented the club next to his teammates Waldemar Lindén , John Lindell and Knut Nilsson at a clash between two Swedish-English mixed selection teams. In the national championship, which was held before the introduction of the Allsvenskan as a national league in cup form, he moved with the club team in 1911 for the first time in the final of the Svenska Mästerskapet . At the side of Karl Ansén , Theodor Malm and the Dane Vilhelm Palme , he was one of the eleven protagonists who, with a 3-2 win over IFK Uppsala, contributed to the third win of the championship title in the club's history. Three years later, the club reached the final again. In the 7-2 final win against Helsingborgs IF he was involved as a scorer for the 3-1 intermediate result in the first half, while Helge Ekroth , Ivar Svensson and Valfrid Gunnarsson each stood out as two-time goalscorers.

In October 1913, the selection committee of the Svenska Fotbollförbundet considered Berg as a selection player in the Swedish national team . The country comparison against the national team of the Danish federation was clearly lost with a 10:10 defeat. This was his only international appearance.

Nothing is currently known about Berg's further life - especially away from the football field.
