Claire Pentecost

Claire Pentecost (* 1956 in Baltimore ) is an American photographer and installation artist .

life and work

In 1978, Pentecost graduated from Smith College in Northampton with a bachelor's degree and in 1983, after further studies at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture , obtained a master's degree from the Pratt Institute . Pentecost was a participant in the Whitney Independent Study Program from 1988 to 1989 . She was appointed professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago .

In their view, an artist is someone who agrees to learn in public and sees themselves as someone who starts their projects with “I don't know”. She has long been interested in food and agricultural policy . Pentecost was a participant in the 13th Istanbul Biennale , and in 2012 she exhibited at dOCUMENTA (13) soil-erg .
