history
The band's first album, also called Clap Your Hands Say Yeah , was released in 2005. David Bowie and David Byrne are prominent followers. They were named "Hot New Band" of the year 2005 by Rolling Stone . On October 3, 2005, they signed a recording deal with Wichita Recordings . Except for Ounsworth, who lives in Philadelphia , all of the band members live in Brooklyn. Her single Is This Love hit the UK charts in December 2005. On January 30, 2007, the second album Some Loud Thunder was released.
Frontman Alec Ounsworth has a side project ( Flashy Python and the Body-Snatchers ) while drummer Sean Greenhalgh also plays in the Guns N 'Roses tribute band Mr. Brownstone . Robbie Guertin and Tyler Sargent also play in the band Unhibitable Mansions .
