Trivia

The fact that Clara-Jumi Kang was admitted to the pre-school class of the Mannheim University of Music at the age of 5 is due to a mix-up. Kang's parents submitted the application when Clara-Jumi was 4 years old. The responsible clerk mistakenly believed that a “1” had been forgotten in the age specification; since typical preschoolers were around 13 to 14 years old, he added the "1" and made a "14" out of the "4". It was only when she was asked to audition and a 4-year-old child appeared that it became clear that the age originally entered in the application letter would have been correct. She was still allowed to audition and was then also admitted to the preschool class.
