Clara Feinstein-Rosenberg

Clara Feinstein-Rosenberg (born May 7, 1915 in Romania ; † ︎ December 28, 2013 in Binningen ) was a Swiss lawyer and women's rights activist .

Life

Clara Feinstein-Rosenberg grew up in St. Gallen . She studied at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where she graduated with a licentiate (lic. Oec.), And did her doctorate in law at the University of Bern . From 1939 to 1940 she worked at the Zurich District Court , then until 1944 as a research assistant at the University of St. Gallen. Feinstein-Rosenberg lived in Basel from 1947 .

She was committed to the equality of women, especially in the Jewish community and in Swiss politics. Her involvement in voluntary work began in 1947 with the international Jewish training organization ORT . From 1967 to 1980 she was the Zurich President of the Federation of Swiss Jewish Women's Organizations (BSJF) and from 1968 on the working committee of the Federation of Swiss Women's Organizations (BSF). In 1975 she was the first woman to be elected to the board of directors of the Basel Israelite Community . From 1973 to 1985 Feinstein-Rosenberg was a member of the Swiss Unesco commission .
