Clara Pontoppidan

Clara Pontoppidan (born April 23, 1883 in Copenhagen , † January 22, 1975 in Hellerup ) was a Danish theater and film actress .

Life

In 1892 she attended the ballet school of the Danish royal theater Det Kongelige Teater . She made her debut as an actress there in 1901. Later engagements took her to the Dagmarteatret , Det Ny Teater and Alexandra-teatret . In 1902 she had her first film appearance as a ballet dancer; from 1910 increasingly also as an actress in Danish silent films .

In 1925 she returned to Det kongelige Teater, where she had her last appearance as a mime on December 21, 1973 at its anniversary gala for its 225th anniversary with Puk's epilogue from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream .

Other notable roles of the theater actress, who also participated in international film productions such as B. witches participated, were u. A. the Mrs. Markmann in Kaj Munks Døden 1966, the nurse in August Strindbergs Faderen (premiere on May 10, 1950), but also various roles in the contemporary Danish plays of Kjeld Abell , who appreciated the "great voice" of the Pontoppidan.

Clara Pontoppidan, who was married to her fellow actor Carlo Wieth , is buried in Ordruper Friedhof.
