Clarks is the world's largest shoe brand outside of the sports shoe lifestyle segment. The parent company C. and J. Clark Ltd is located in the 11,000-inhabitant city of Street (approx. 44 km southwest of Bath ) in the county of Somerset ( England ).

history

The company was founded in 1825 when Quaker brothers Cyrus and James Clark started making shoes in Somerset.

The last manufacturing facility on British soil was closed in April 2005. In the previous 15 years production had been relocated to countries such as Romania , India and China .

In fiscal 2004/05 Clarks sold 45 million pairs of shoes worldwide for a turnover of 955 million pounds sterling .

Among the Clarks models there are some with special equipment. The Active Air men's shoes, for example, have air bubbles in the soles that are compressed when walking to increase wearing comfort. The cushion soft soles in women's shoes should also be particularly comfortable on the underside of the foot.

The Clarks Originals - for example the Desert Boot - are particularly popular .
