The Classic Days is a classic car event at Dyck Castle in Jüchen in the Rhine district of Neuss . The event has been held annually since 2006 and is organized by the association of the same name.

There is an approximately 2.8 km long circuit ("Racing Legends") on the event site , on which monoposto and touring car races for vehicles built up to 1961 take place at regular intervals . In addition, visitors are given the opportunity to come into contact with famous racing drivers from different epochs of motorsport.

history

The Classic Days were created in 2006 in memory of Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips, who died in an accident in Monza in 1961 .

In 2008, there was an accident between two classic cars that collided on the closed circuit. Six people were slightly injured. An international FIVA-A Concours d'Elegance has also been held since 2008 . The jury in 2010 was made up of, among others, Caroline Bugatti , Jutta Benz, the great-granddaughter of Carl and Bertha Benz , and Simeon Graf Wolff-Metternich .

On January 29, 1886, Carl Benz submitted the motor vehicle patent for his three-wheeled vehicle . In 2011, the 125-year history of today's automobile was commemorated on the occasion of this . As in the previous year, Jutta Benz was present to celebrate this “technological and cultural-historical founding moment that continues to move the world today”.

The 60th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class was celebrated at the Classic Days 2012 . On this occasion, Mercedes-Benz exhibited various SL racing cars. Former automobile racing driver Sir Stirling Moss came as a guest of honor . The event was also attended by racing drivers Jochen Mass , Dieter Glemser and Hans Herrmann .
