Claude Balon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Claude Balon , also Claude Ballon , often incorrectly Jean Balon (* 1671 in Paris , † 1744 in Paris) was a French dancer and choreographer .

In 1688 he danced for the first time in front of Louis XIV in the ballet L'Oronthée . From 1691 he was a member of the Paris Opera . As a dancer he was famous for his lightness and jumping ability. He often appeared as a partner of the dancer Françoise Prévost . However, the origin of his name from the term " balloon ", which is occasionally cited , does not seem likely.
