Claude Deppa
Claude Deppa (born May 10, 1958 in Cape Town ) is a South African modern creative jazz trumpeter .
Live and act
Deppa, who first learned the drums and trumpet at school, has lived in Great Britain since he was 17. He has worked with the groups of Harry Beckett , Andy Sheppard and Brian Abrahams District Six , but also with Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath , with Carla Bley , with Winston Mankunku , the Dedication Orchestra of Louis Moholo and the Grand Union Orchestra . He has also been touring the world with his own and other projects, including Havana Greets Ronnie Scott and the African Jazz Explosion , and has also worked as an accompanist for Miriam Makeba , Manu Dibango , Francine Luce and Tony Allen . He also plays with various bands whose styles range from swing to calypso to jùjú .
