Claude Moët

Claude Moët (* 1683 ; † 1760 ) was a French winemaker and wine merchant and founder of today's company Moët & Chandon .

Specializing in sparkling wines , he delivered wines from Champagne a . a. to Versailles . He became purveyor to the court of the nobility, including Madame de Pompadour . His grandson Jean-Rémy Moët continued to run the business after his death.
