Claude Ryf (born March 18, 1957 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss football coach and former football player.
Player career
society
Ryf played at three clubs in his career, first at Renens, then at Lausanne and Xamax. After moving to Lausanne in 1978, he played most of his career there and won the Swiss Cup in 1981 . Ryf was last captain at Lausanne. In July 1985 Ryf moved to Xamax in Neuchâtel. He experienced his most successful time at Xamax, he was twice Swiss champion ( 1986/87 and 1987/88 ).
International
Ryf played a total of 13 times for the Swiss national team.
Coaching career

In 1992 Ryf began his coaching career with Étoile Carouge, who was then playing in the second highest Swiss league. Carouge left Ryf in 1995. Ryf switched to FC Yverdon, at that time a top team in the NLB. In autumn 1996 he decided to leave the club due to differences with the president. At that time Ryf still had a contract until 1997. In 1997 Ryf moved back to a team in the NLB, FC Baden, which he left after one season. In 1998 Ryf was recruited to the NLA club BSC Young Boys. Ryf was dismissed by the Berners, the Young Boys relegated to the NLB at that time. Ryf joined FC Wil in 1999, who was then playing in the NLB. Ryf stayed with the Eastern Swiss for two seasons until 2001 and finally moved to Xamax in Neuchâtel in 2002, where he stayed until February 2004, when he was dismissed as a coach in the last place in the table.
International
Claude Ryf has been the coach of various youth teams at the Swiss Football Association since 2006 , most recently as an assistant coach.
