Claudia Bausewein

Claudia Bausewein (born January 14, 1965 in Munich ) is a German palliative medicine specialist and professor for palliative medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1984 and a voluntary social year , Claudia Bausewein studied human medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1985 to 1992, then worked (1992-1994) as an internship (AIP) in Munich at the IV Medical Department of the city. Harlaching Hospital (Head Physician Reiner Hartenstein ), Munich. In 1993, after defending her doctoral thesis , which was supervised by Reiner Hartenstein as a doctoral supervisor, she was given the title The Situation of Terminally Ill Tumor Patients. An analysis at hospital admission to Dr. med. did her doctorate and received her license to practice medicine in 1994 . She then worked as an assistant doctor in the "Sir Michael Sobell House" hospice at Robert Twycross , Oxford, England, then until 2001 as an assistant doctor again in the IV. Medical Department in Munich-Harlaching. She continued her education at the University of Cardiff , Wales with the degree "Diploma in Palliative Medicine", built up the palliative ward in Munich-Harlaching in 1997 and was the chief ward doctor there until 2001. In 1999 she was recognized as an internist. From 2001 to 2007 she worked as a senior physician in the interdisciplinary center for palliative medicine at the University of Munich Großhadern . In 2003 she obtained a “Master of Science in Palliative Care ” (distinction) from King's College in London , in 2004 the additional qualification in palliative medicine, and in 2005 the qualification for further training from the Bavarian Medical Association for palliative medicine. From 2006 to 2007 she was the managing director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Palliative Medicine at the University of Munich-Großhadern Hospital. From 2005 to 2009 she worked first as a " Cicely Saunders International Research Training Fellow" and then as a Senior Clinical Research Fellow and first Saunders Scholar at the Cicely Saunders Institute at King's College, London. Claudia Bausewein received her PhD from King's College, London, in 2009 under the supervision of Irene Higginson , Sara Booth and Marjolein Gysels . In July 2012, she took over the chair for palliative medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and thus the management of the interdisciplinary center for palliative medicine at the Großhadern Clinic. Since May 2013 she has been the director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Palliative Medicine at the University of Munich Clinic.
