Work and action

Claudia Märzendorfer began doing autobiographical sculptures during her sculpture studies, in which a series of ice works - casts with frozen water - were created from 1996 onwards. She began the ongoing series of ice works with Cold Wash in 1996. In the following years "Perfect Disappearance 2000", "House 2001", "Corridor 2002", "Banquet 2004", "Much Ado About Nothing / frozen records 2005–2007 followed "in cooperation with Nik Hummer . In 2005 there was a world premiere with ice records in the Kunsthalle Wien, from 2007 "frozen archive" as a follow-up to their development of ice records.

In 2012, as a homage to Arnold Schönberg's typewriter , Märzendorfer realized a new construction as part of the Against the Specialist exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York . The machine was poured onto a fiberglass support mold in inked ice. The small sculpture melted over a stack of music paper and the flowing ink "wrote" the score. Her work also includes several "library works". Since 2005 the artist has been knitting a truck in 1: 1 format in individual parts.

From 2003 to 2004 she taught at the Institute for Fine Arts of the Art University Linz . Claudia Märzendorfer is a member of the Vienna Secession .

Her works can be found in some public collections, such as the collection of contemporary art at Admont Abbey .
