The castle in Gerlachshausen

The Gerlachshausen castle stands in Gerlachshausen , a district of Schwarzach am Main . It is framed by trees and can therefore hardly be seen.

history

The history of the castle begins in the 8th century. It was built as a moated castle and was inhabited by several ministers from the Counts of Castell . In 1115 it was sold to the Münsterschwarzach monastery . From then on, the abbot's mayor lived in the building that was supposed to protect the monastery. In the 20th century the castle came into private hands and is now used as a residential building. The term “Gerlachshäuser Schlösschen” is also used in everyday language. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation lists the complex as a monument with the number D-6-75-165-11. The remains of the old facility in the ground are listed under monument number D-6-6127-0060.
