Westheim Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The West Home Castle is a former noble residence in Biebelrieder district of West home in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The complex was integrated into an agricultural property and is now hardly recognizable as a castle.

history

The history of the palace complex begins in the 18th century. It was first recorded in 1772; at that time it was owned by the Würzburg cathedral capitular Johann Philipp von Zobel . In the same year the castle was passed on to the barons Groß von Trockau . The family still lived in the complex in the 19th century. At the turn of the 20th century, the building was leased to Franz Bauer.

The middle of the 20th century brought another change in the history of the castle. The house was sold and from then on lived in by private individuals, the last time the complex was shown free-standing in 1950. The new owners converted the Westheimer Schloss into an agricultural property. For this purpose, the former aristocratic residence was rebuilt with barns and converted into part of the utility building. The remains are classified as a monument.

description

The remains of the castle suggest the original appearance. It was a small, one-story building with a small house chapel . Some profiled window frames have been preserved. Four out of five window axes with a central portal can still be seen. A wall portal can also be made out on the south side of the property. In earlier times a tomb of the last baron Groß von Trockau could still be seen.
