The castle in Schernau

The Schernau Castle (also Small Adelspalais ) is a former aristocratic residence in the Dettelbacher district of Schernau in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen. Today it is inhabited by the von Roman barons.

history

There is evidence of a noble seat in the village as early as the Middle Ages. However, no remains of this Schernau castle stables have survived today. Initially, the Lords of Seinsheim sat here until the old complex was destroyed in the 16th century, probably during the German Peasants' War. In 1739, the new castle was therefore built in a central location in the village. The lords of Künsberg are recorded here around 1748 , before the barons of Roman acquired the facility. Members of this family still live in the castle today. The castle is classified as an architectural monument, while the underground remains in the ground are listed as a ground monument.
