The Krautheim Castle lies on the edge of the hamlet Krautheim the Lower Franconian town of Volkach am Main .

history

The history of Krautheim Castle began with the handover of the "villa Crutheim" (German village of Krautheim) to the Zollner family, who were also masters of the Hallburg . The Counts of Castell handed over the rule to them. However, there was no manorial court in the village, which is why Friedrich Zollner bought the cloister courtyard of the Benedictine abbey of Münsterschwarzach in 1546 .

In 1736, after Krautheim had changed hands again, this time the barons of Buttlar exercising rule over the village, the Fronhof was converted into a country palace. In 1756, Krautheim and with it the castle again came into the hands of the Counts of Castell. The media coverage brought the castle in the 19th century in private hands. The Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments lists Krautheim Castle under the number D-6-75-174-275.

Building description

The castle is a two-story baroque complex . Half a storey of plastered framework was placed on both corners . A mansard roof was also built. The castle has windows of different sizes that are framed by profiled stone walls . A representative arched gate was bricked up. Originally, the building probably had a different appearance, the elevation of the street and an unsuccessful renovation gave rise to the current appearance.

The portal on the west side consists of two pilasters . They have an attached dazzling gallery, the year 1736 is on their capitals. The arched apex stone bears the alliance coat of arms of the Barons von Buttlar and a mask.
